Name: Kim Junsu (김준수)

Stage Names: XIA, XIAH, 시아

Birthday: December 15, 1986

Junsu was born in Gyeonggi Province on December 15, 1986. He has a twin brother named Kim Junho(김준호) who's also a singer, and his mother Yoon Young-mi (윤영미) is a former Miss Korea Contestant Junsu is a Kpop Idol and Korean musical actor who has been in the industry for close to twenty years now, he's known for his unique and expressive voice and his immersive acting on stage. He's had top-selling albums and has an incredibly loyal and dedicated fanbase because of his genuine and humble personality

Junsu was a trainee for six years under SM Entertainment before debuting in the boy group TVXQ (sometimes also written as DBSK) in 2003 with the song 'Hug'. TVXQ became wildly popular and remains to this day one of the most successful Kpop groups ever formed. However in 2010 Junsu and two other members (Jaejoong and Yoochun) filed a lawsuit against their company SM for unfair terms in their contracts (I will link more resources regarding this in the future). The trio eventually left the company and formed the group JYJ under C-Jes Entertainment. While officially the court ruled in JYJ's favor, SM established an unofficial (and illegal) ban on the members apearing on TV. This resulted in the group and the member's solo songs and activities not being shown on TV (which if you know Korean music culture you'll know being unable to promote songs on music shows is a huge hit) and to this day Junsu is unable to promote his songs on music charts because of SM's involvement (*cough**cough* Fuck SM *cough**cough*)

Junsu starred in his first musical in 2010, performing as Mozart in the musical 'Mozart!'. His performance was heavily complimented and awarded and every showing of Mozart! was sold out, leading to him being nicknamed as "The Ticket Power" of Korea with his shows routinely being completely sold out quickly even ten years later. This also broke the prejudice Korean musical crowds had of Idols performing in musicals, and he's been credited with elevating the production value and style of musicals to the sophisticated level it's currently at. JYJ would release an EP and then Junsu would star in his second musical "Tears of Heaven", again to great reviews. That same year he toured with JYJ, won "Popular Actor Award" at the 5th Musical Awards, release a song for the OST of the drama "scent of a woman", release a full album with JYJ titled "In Heaven" as well as star in the MV, as well as win two more awards.

In 2012 Junsu performed one of his most iconic characters in "Das Musical Elisabeth" as Death (Der Todd), an androgynous dark and sexy character which was a big departure from the characters and image he had portrayed up to this point. This started his illustrous musical career that includes him starring in musicals like 'Elisabeth' 'Dracula' 'Death Note' 'Dorian Gray' over the last ten years.

However, the TV ban has continued to be in effect during the last ten years, SM effectively bullying TV stations into ignoring Junsu and his achievements. To the point where many Korean people thought he was no longer active or had chosen not to be on TV. He appeared a few times but his big break came when he was invited to be a judge on the competitive singing show "Mister Trot", which was a show looking for the next big Trot singer. The show was wildly successful and launched the careers of it's contestants, but it also brought Junsu back into the public eye. Junsu also participated in the sequel show "Miss Trot" which looked for female trot singers and which turned out to be even more successful than the original.

On November 21 2021, it was announced that Junsu was leaving his previous company CJES and creating his own named Palm Tree Island Agency. Since then a couple artists have signed to his company (mainly fellow musical actors) including his longtime friend Kim So-Hyun. Since he's left CJES he's become way more active in things like social media, TV show appearences, and released a new album 'Dimension'.

(Because of the way school works in Korea his parents waited to register him until January first of the following year so his birthday is sometimes incorrectly stated to be January 1st)
